Benvenuti in Sicilia!
November 12-22, 2024

Welcome! We are the Ehrenhardts and we put this scrapbook together to share the story of our Sicilian travel adventures in November, 2024. We absolutely loved the Best of Sicily in 11 Days tour, and count our blessings that we are able to gain new experiences and perspectives through travel.

This was our 6th Rick Steves' tour, and our second tour of the year. We took the Athens & the Heart of Greece in 14 Days tour in March of 2024 and booked this Sicily trip shortly after returning from Greece. Little did we know that we would see as many, if not more, Greek ruins throughout Sicily! The two tours turned out to be the perfect pair to feed our love of history, and experience such beauty that left us speechless. We hope this visual account of our travels will entice you to fly away and become your own storyteller!

ITINERARY - Palermo to Catania

Our daytime temperatures were generally in the 60's to low 70's, and 50's at night. We had very little rain and mostly clear blue skies.

“As an artist, I seek out God's beauty, both natural and
man-made. Sicily presented beauty around every corner!"
– Teri
“You can't beat the
great November weather,
pizza and other food
we enjoyed in Sicily."
– Kevin

Sicilian Food

You don't have to be a foodie to lose yourself in the deliciousness of the food you will find in Sicily. Sicilian's are adamant that their food is unique from Italian cuisine—and it's better! Ingredients are fresh and are often selected daily from the busy street markets which have an exciting ambiance all their own. Learn to be adventurous and enliven your taste buds! I've made it a point to try to duplicate one of my favorite tour dishes when I return home. This time I made Sicilian almond cookies. Look for food photos throughout this scrapbook but beware, they'll make you hungry!

Trapani

Sicilian Lodging

I'll share some photos of our hotel accommodations throughout this scrapbook. We've always had great hospitality and helpful staff on our Rick Steves' travels. The lodging is in convenient locations and often with scenic views. The buffet breakfasts they provide nourish you for the day's adventures. Laundry is usually available and bathrooms are equipped with a blow dryer and shower essentials. And, hey...if you're lucky, the bathroom will also have a bidet!

Agrigento

Finding Your Roots

Do you have family roots in Sicily? Several of our tour members have Sicilian heritage and were interested in finding their roots. In Agrigento, our great local guide, Michele, took the details shared with him and promised to further research their genealogy. He will provide the individual with any details he discovers. His brother helps him in this endeavor and the assistance was appreciated by our group members.
